Pull vs Push System

There are two basic approaches of bringing the product to its final destination, i.e., the customer. In a Push system (See Figure 1), products are pushed from the manufacturing plants to distribution points based on a sales forecast. The second approach is the Pull system (See Figure 2) which requires that the product be pulled from the plants based on actual demand.

Logistics for customer satisfaction

The term logistics is often misintrepreted to mean transportation. In fact, the scope of logistics goes well beyond transportation. Logistics forms the system that ensures the delivery of the product in the entire supply pipeline. This includes transportation, packaging, storage and handling methods, and information flow. The impact of logistics in the ability of a company to satisfy its customers cannot be overstated. All other efforts at modernization within a company would not bear fruit until the logistics system is carefully designed to facilitate the smooth and efficient flow of goods in the system.

Definition of Supply Chain Management

Although a second alternative was slightly more strongly supported, the council decided to adopt the following definition (Council of supply chain management professionals, 2006):

What is the difference between logistics and Supply Chain Management?

SCM has grown out of the logistics concept but is distinct from this concept in several ways. Logistics is typically based on the individual business with the objective of making this enterprise’s logistics system more efficient through internal and external planning and control. SCM is based on the external relationships between the players in the entire supply chain and focuses on how to improve trading in general.

Distribution research

Marketing is the exchange function- the process by which goods and services are made available to the public. No society will produce goods or services for any length of time if they cannot be exchanged for other goods or the means of obtaining them.
The success of marketing effort determines the prosperity of the entire enterprise .The marketing effort consists of a number of elements, particularly: creating awareness, ensuring demand and marketing the goods available in the form, at the place and the time the customer wants them.
